From the 23rd until the 26th of September, the alliance of 15 partners in the ESIC project came together in Cork, Ireland for four days of collaborative workshops, deep discussions, and shared learning. The gathering marked a pivotal moment in the project, with the initiative entering an exciting new phase.
Here’s a look at some of the key highlights from our time together:
Refining Our Voice
We explored the tone of voice used both internally and externally—how we communicate as a network, and how we present ourselves to the world.
Capabilities Framework & Competence Profiles
Odisee University, in close collaboration with all partners, presented the evolving Capabilities Framework based on ongoing research. Together with a series of competence profiles for roles such as:
- The Involved Employee
- The Social Innovation Manager
- The Social Innovation Programme Manager
Maximising Survey Impact
We strategised around increasing responses to the ongoing survey—discussing not just how to reach more people, but why their input matters. By contributing, respondents are helping shape larger movements addressing global challenges like climate change, democratic resilience, and social cohesion. It’s about building a sense of shared purpose and community.
Pilots Underway!
The project is now entering its implementation phase with pilots based on the co-developed curriculum rolling out across Europe:
- Estonia (Tallinn University): Focused on reskilling and upskilling in social innovation
- Ireland (Rethink Ireland): Targeting incubators and accelerators
- Finland (Live Foundation): Training of Trainers for VET students
- Spain (AMUSAL): Flexible learning modules
- Romania (Alaturi de Voi Romania Foundation): Counselling and service guidelines
Following these pilots partners will further test these pilots in their local context in countries Italy, Norway, Belgium, Finland, Spain, Estonia, and Ukraine.
Sharing & Learning Across Borders
As learning is at the heart of ESIC, we also explored how to better share insights and experiences internally across partners, and externally with the wider public.
Validation & Accreditation Framework
We’ve now developed a framework for accreditation and validation, informed by a comprehensive mapping of systems across all partner countries. This includes five key competency clusters, each with clearly defined learning outcomes across different proficiency levels.
Project Reporting & Alignment
Our meeting also provided space to align on the upcoming periodic reporting—offering transparency, clarity, and support across the consortium.
Looking Ahead: Beyond the Project
Finally, we began planting the seeds for what comes next. While no decisions were made, the conversation has begun around how to sustain the ESIC Campus beyond the life of the project. More to come!
As the project continues to evolve, so does our shared commitment to social innovation, lifelong learning, and collective impact. We’re proud of what’s been achieved—and excited for what’s next.
